CraftNote for Slack · Messaging

Meeting summaries, straight to Slack.

Connect Slack and share a meeting’s summary to your team’s channels in a click — you pick the channel, CraftNote posts it as an app, and your notes stay yours until you decide to share one.

Open CraftNoteSee how to connect

Overview

What connecting Slack does

Once connected, any note gets a “Share to Slack” option. You choose a channel and CraftNote posts the note’s title and summary there, with a link back to the full note. It’s always your call — nothing is posted automatically. Available in the CraftNote desktop app for Mac.

What you can share

The note’s title and its AI summary, posted to a public or private channel you choose. The message includes an “Open in CraftNote” link so teammates can read the full note. You can set a default channel so sharing is one click.

Post-only, on your terms

CraftNote posts as an app, never as you, and only when you press share. It can’t read your Slack messages, can’t see your DMs, and never sends the transcript — only the title and summary you choose to share.

Setup · under a minute

Connect Slack

The Slack connector is available in the CraftNote desktop app for Mac. You’ll need permission to add an app to your Slack workspace.

1

Open Connectors

In the CraftNote desktop app (Mac), go to Settings → Connectors and find Slack under “Your tools”.

Slack sharing is a desktop feature — it isn’t in the mobile or web app.

2

Connect your workspace

Click Connect. CraftNote opens Slack’s consent screen in your browser. Approve access and the connector shows “Connected” with your workspace name.

CraftNote asks only to post to channels and read the channel list — nothing else.

3

Share a summary

Open a note, choose Share → Share to Slack, and pick a channel. Set it as your default if you’d like every share to go there in one click.

Sharing a note to Slack turns on its public link so channel members can open it — see the FAQ below.

Permissions

What CraftNote can and can’t do in Slack

The Slack scopes are post-only. Everything below is what the connection allows — and what it deliberately doesn’t.

What Slack can access

Read-only

Scoped to posting summaries you choose to share.

  • Post a note’s title and summary to a channel you pick
  • Post to public channels, and to private channels it’s been invited to
  • Read the list of channels so you can choose one
  • Remember a default channel for one-click sharing

What Slack can’t access

Out of scope, intentionally.

  • No reading your Slack messages — there’s no read access and no Events API
  • No posting as you — it posts as the CraftNote app
  • No access to your DMs, members or profiles
  • Never sends the transcript — only the title and summary

Control

How to disconnect

You can remove the connection at any time. CraftNote can no longer post to Slack until you reconnect — messages already posted stay in Slack.

From CraftNote Desktop

Settings → Connectors → Slack → Disconnect

Removes the connection and stops CraftNote posting to your workspace. Anything already shared stays in Slack, untouched.

Troubleshooting

Common questions

What exactly gets posted to Slack?

The note’s title and its AI summary (trimmed to roughly 200 words), plus a “Shared by … via CraftNote” line and an “Open in CraftNote” link. The full transcript is never posted — only the summary.

Does sharing to Slack make my note public?

Yes — and CraftNote tells you so right at the share button. Sharing a note to Slack turns on that note’s public link, so anyone in the channel with the link can open the full note without a CraftNote account. You can turn the link back off at any time — from the desktop, web or mobile app — and it takes effect instantly; anyone who opens the old link then sees a “this note is no longer shared” screen instead. There’s no automatic expiry, so the link stays on until you switch it off.

Does it post automatically after every meeting?

No. Sharing is manual and per-note — you open a note, choose Share to Slack, and pick a channel. Nothing is posted in the background.

Can it read my Slack messages?

No. The connection is post-only. CraftNote can post to channels you choose and read the list of channels to let you pick one, but it can’t read messages, see your DMs, or view members and profiles.

Which channels can it post to?

Public channels in your workspace, and private channels the CraftNote app has been invited to. You choose the channel each time, or set a default so sharing is one click.

Is Slack sharing available on mobile or the web?

No. The Slack connector is in the CraftNote desktop app for Mac. Recording works across devices, but sharing a summary to Slack is a desktop feature.

Turn a meeting into a message your team actually reads.

Connect Slack on CraftNote desktop and drop the summary into the right channel the moment a call ends — no copy-paste, no switching apps. Get the desktop app to start.
